Marsaxlokk - The Colourful Fishing Village

Marsaxlokk - The Colourful Fishing Village

Hello from Marsaxlokk! Visiting this charming fishing village is like stepping back in time. Its history goes back to the ninth century BC. It was here where Phoenicians arrived in Malta to set up their businesses.

Marsaxlokk can offer you a slice of real Maltese life. When you arrive, and look around you can spot many fishermen cleaning their nets or paining their traditional fishing boats also known as Luzzu.

Luzzu is a traditional fishing boat painted in bright colours. Every fishing boat also have a pair of eyes, according to the legend Eye of Osiris, protecting the fisherman while at sea.

Marsaxlokk Is also very famous for its fishing market that takes place every Sunday morning, so if you fancy a fresh fish for lunch you know where to go. You can also buy all your souvenirs from here.

Also don't forget to take a picture at the quirky 'loving' house in Marsaxlokk.

I hope I have given you enough reasons to visit this charming fishing village of Marsaxlokk. :-)
